A region of art and history

Explore the Auvergne guided by the "Pays d’Art et d’Histoire" quality label (Region of Art and History), a celebration of the Auvergne's identity with the emphasis firmly on its heritage sites and related activities. One of the main advantages of France's "Regions of Art and History" quality labelling scheme lies in the high quality of the organised activities. The local authorities concerned are obliged to employ recognised guides and heritage activity organisers approved by the ministry of culture and communication.

the regions or towns concerned and to understand the many factors which have shaped their identity. Themed trails are also proposed, during which you can learn everything there is to know about a particular building, visit an unusual location or familiarise yourself with a famous person "brought to life" once again before your very eyes.
A further touch of charm and enchantment is added by evening discovery tours. Finally, visits to shows and performances offer a great chance to enjoy the talents of the musicians, storytellers or comedians as they recreate the original atmosphere of a particular location or period in history.
These discovery sessions lasting between one and two hours are organised at fixed times during the summer. Consequently, you don't need to sign up beforehand. Some of them are followed by highly original workshops during which you can learn more about the subject concerned by gaining "hands-on" experience of educational aids including documents, photos, models and mouldings.
For your children, during the summer the heritage sites help transform the area into a giant playground, ready to welcome them with treasure hunts, during which they seek out clues to solve a mystery, etc.
