Saint-Saturnin

In the footsteps of Catherine de Médicis and Queen Margot...

Situated between the Monne gorges and the Veyre Valley, Saint-Saturnin is home to one of the five major churches of auvergnat Romanesque art and to the impressive castle of the La Tour d'Auvergne family (14th and 15th centuries) in which Catherine de Médicis was once a guest. Along with that of Orcival, the magnificent Romanesque church of St Saturnin is the only one in the Auvergne to have saved its church tower during the tortuous days of the revolution.
