Tournemire, a peaceful village in the heart of the Cantal hills
The village overlooks the green and leafy valley of the Doire and its magnificent castle built in the mid-15th century by Louis II of Anjony is not only one of the finest examples of the Auvergne's mediaeval architecture but also one of the best preserved. This small village with its slate or flagstone roofs is particularly noteworthy for its small Romanesque church built from multicoloured volcanic tuff.
